vase paintings
I initially thought of the vase as a hold-all for anything I might want to put in it. I wanted the vase itself to be a black (or white) void, out of which anything could come forth (or be sucked into?)
These large paintings on paper were my first experiments in that form, but the vase as a motif has carried over to my sitcker paintings, as well as, of course, the AI Vase Series.
