patterns
I have been working with patterns since about 1989, when I used them as flat backgrounds to portrait-style oil paintings. I’ve long been fascinated with the new forms that come from repetition, by the challenge of making “invisible” edges to the repeat, and by varying the tiling units to create non-identical repeats. Included here is a tiny representation of my work with patterns; more can be found in my archive of commercial work.
